Wednesday evening started out okay for Roger, but quickly went into a steady rate of decline thereafter. It was his roommate Causey's 25th birthday, so they had planned to do a bit of celebrating after a long tumultuous day at work.5:19 pm: They sift through the sluggish rush hour traffic in a gray Honda, cracking jokes, cracking farts, having a jolly ole time. When they finally arrived home, they quickly changed and headed out to pick up their friend Charlotte and a few bottles of 'Nice Wine!" for dinner.
7:33 pm: Dinner was grand, they helped absorb two $30 bottles of Hachi's finest port wine with dragon makis, spicy tunas, and hamachi sashimis. They had the luxury of being accompanied by Causey's friend Katie, and Roger's friend Jerome, and after they ate they trekked their way next door to Jerome's apartment, where they opened up their throats to three more bottles of wine, packed a nice fat bowl, or two, and conversed while Guns n' Bombs provided background noise.
9:04 pm: Beginning to feel good now, they finish off the last bottle of $3 Merlot and
head for the porch to enjoy cigarettes in Chicago's cool September air. While outside Jerome, Charlotte, Causey and Roger begin picking and eating the tiny green grapes off the vine growing along the fence which separates the adjacent grey stone apartment. At this time, Katie walks out with her wine glass held out towards them, and demands more wine! They look at each other confused (seeing as she hadn't payed for any of it), and told her to go check the counter where they had opened the bottles. This was where they finally realize why a girl like this is friends with Causey. It's evident that when Katie consumes a couple of drinks she firmly believes she is in charge of every situation, everyone agrees with all the words coming out of her mouth, and that everyone wants to listen to her talk. (Laura...)
10:28 pm: They continue to smoke, drink, and listen to tunes, only the drink has now switched to Disaronno and Coke to further annihilate their wandering minds, and help make some of their bad decisions even easier for them. Causey is beginning to get sleepy, and still has a long ride ahead of him taking Katie home. He decides to drive her home to Lincoln Park and come back and snag the rest of them on his way back through.
11:05 pm: Roger receives the first text message from Causey indicating that Katie (who Roger barely spoke to all night) was attracted to him and wants him to come over, but she was too shy to tell him herself. Roger respectfully declines.
11:11 pm: He receives a second text message indicating that Katie REALLY wants him to come over now, and that the 'free ride' will definitely be worth his time. He agrees, but only if Causey picks him up. So they drop Charlotte off at home, and head off into the night.
12:12 am: Roger arrives at Katie's apartment, where he is abandoned by Causey, 6 miles from home, no car, no money, and he had just met this fluzie. He sits on the couch, observing the once fully dressed girl sprawled out on all fours on her floor, in underwear, making what appears to be extremely awful art. She was taking these small shimmering gold and silver circles and attaching them in so-called patterns to a hideous frame covered in dark cloth. She asks Roger if he likes her art, he responds by stating "YEA, I LIKE ART.............Brut." She responds with, "It's my art! Don't you like it?" He doesn't want to upset her by letting her know it's horrendous, so to avoid this awkward situation he simply said..."It's unique." She finally drops the subject and her glue, she closes the cupboard around the TV, and comes and sits next to him on the couch. She examines the situation for a moment, says some words that he really didn't understand (more of a slurred mumble) and then slides over on top of him, but it’s extremely awkward because it's quiet, dark, and she’s just staring into his eyes without saying a word. He tells her they should move to the bed, they do, and start going to town. This happened for no more than a minute before she stops and jumps off. She starts saying "I knew it, I knew this would happen, I'm not good enough for you am I?" Roger is dumbfounded by this since she is the one who invited him over for sexy time! But he calmly assures her that he came willing.
12:37 am: This is the moment when a screw came loose in Katie's mind. She starts crying and saying very outlandish things like she is a “skinny girl” …so Roger would agree, not knowing what else to say…then she said, “I haven’t had sex since last Nov.” He said "Ok", not knowing what else to say. Next she said "I can have any guy that I wants to, because I'm hot." Roger begins thinking to himself, "What have I gotten myself into?" Then Katie yells, “you don’t think I’m hot, I’m just another one of your hoes!” He replies, "No, come on, I’ve known you for like 3 hours now, why would you think such a thing?!?"
12:49 am: She begins crying hysterically again and repeating that she could have any guy she wants, that she is so hot, etc. So Roger decides 'fuck it, I’m not dealing with this', he went and laid on the couch while she cried and called him gay. She went on calling him names like faggot, queer, etc for awhile, and eventually called Causey to tell him how she felt.
Thanks Causey! Although I guess I should have known better!
Here's a little song I like to listen to when I have a rough night with the ladies...Enjoy!
